Death on Toast: An Honest Health Update

Show notes

Recorded live, from bed, on a Saturday afternoon feeling — in David's own words — "like death on toast." Ahead of a hospital admission on Monday, David sat down to give an honest update: where his health actually stands, and everything he's been trying.

He talks candidly about the long-running fight with the medical aid and the Council of Medical Schemes, the flare-up — or relapse — of the last few weeks: the pain, the cramps, the mobility, and the brain fog. And the maddening dance of simply getting admitted at all.

Then the real substance — the things he's been testing on himself, because when you're left to sort it out alone, you become your own guinea pig. NAD+ and the remyelination research. Benfotiamine and Alpha Lipoic Acid. Meditation and Qigong. Ozone therapy. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine. And the one everyone swears by that did precisely nothing — CBD. No miracle cures here and no confident claims; just an honest account of what he's tried, what might be helping, and the hard lesson of doing exactly the wrong thing the moment he started to feel better.

It's also a reflection on something bigger: building a business — and a life — that keeps running on the days he can't.

Future episodes will go deeper on each of these. For now, this is simply where things stand.

If you're living with an autoimmune or chronic condition, wrestling with the mindset that comes with it, or just trying to build something that outlasts your worst days — this one's for you.

Take care, look after yourselves, and be kind.
